5 Health Tips For Starting the New Year



The new year is a great time to evaluate your health and fitness, and plan to work on areas you want to improve. Whether you’re hoping to achieve a specific fitness goal, eat better, or just improve your overall health, there are a few steps you can take to get started right away. Here are our 5 easy tips for a healthier 2021:



1. Drink Enough Water

It’s important to keep up with your water intake and ensure you’re staying hydrated throughout the day. You should aim for about 15.5 cups of fluid a day for men and 11.5 cups for women. However, you may need more if you’re doing intense workouts. If you struggle with drinking enough water, try filling up a large water bottle in the morning and work on finishing it throughout the day. You may also want to replace sugary drinks, like sports drinks or soda, with a glass of water instead.


2. Create a Consistent Workout Schedule

Daily exercise is key to achieving good health this year. It’s easier to stay on track with your workouts when you have a schedule to follow. Find a time that you prefer; whether it’s in the morning, evening, or on your lunch break, and stick to it. It may also be helpful to schedule workout classes or personal training sessions if you’re often tempted to skip workouts. Once you make your workouts a daily habit, it will be easier to stay consistent.


3. Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is incredibly important to your overall health. Eight hours of sleep per night should be your goal. There are a few ways you can improve your sleep quality; turn off screens at least an hour before going to bed, make sure your room is fully dark, and silence any distractions. Sleep helps both your body and mind function better throughout the day, making you more effective at work and in the gym.


4. Eat a Variety of Fruits and Vegetables

You should aim to get the daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals through your diet. This means eating plenty of leafy greens, fruits, and protein. There are a ton of healthy recipes online to try out this year, and help you improve your nutrition and overall health. Make it a priority to have a fruit or vegetable with every meal.


5. Set Goals

Setting goals can create a clearer picture of what you’re looking to achieve in 2021 and help to hold you accountable. Do you want to lose weight? Lift heavier? Run a half marathon? Write down your goals at the beginning of the year and make a plan to achieve them. It will also make your health journey more fun when you work towards a specific goal, and it’s always exciting to track your progress as the year goes on!
